Using Your Time in Lockdown to Plan Your Wedding - My Top Tips
What a strange time for us all, ey? It looks like our life in lockdown is about to be extended for a while longer. So I thought it was the perfect time for me to share my top tips for planning your wedding in these unprecedented times. It's hardly surprising that Coronavirus has affected couples planning their weddings this year, and throughout 2021 too. I know so many couples who have been affected by this awful pandemic, and my calendar for 2021 is already filling fast! However, we've all got to remain positive during this time. It's highly unlikely that we'll have so much time on our hands ever again. In essence, you should use it as an opportunity to get ahead of the game and carry on planning!
1. This will never happen again; you get so spend all this time with your loved ones!
Planning a wedding is so time-consuming, and you can look forward to getting married post-pandemic when we can all celebrate together again. You need to spend time with your loved ones or connect with them virtually if you're not self-isolating with them. When you're not catching up with your friends, family and their cute pets, you should have lots of time to PLAN alongside those pesky DIY jobs you've been putting off. Being at home all day will give you time to consider everything from wedding favours and table plans to creating an awesome playlist for the evening reception. Use your time wisely and enjoy planning all of those little details!
2. Even though the wedding venues are closed, there’s loads of information online!
With so many venues having to close due to the Coronavirus outbreak, their calendars are likely to be getting booked up into 2021 and beyond. Although the venues might be closed, there's lots of information available online, and it's expected that they will still be contactable. As a photographer, I've adapted to offering FREE consultations via Skype and Zoom. I'm able to send you a variety of galleries via email so you can see how I shoot a wedding day from start to finish! Use this time to choose your venue, photographer and extras, I promise it will relieve the stress when we get to the other side of lockdown!
3. Start a Pinterest board or make a mood-board
Are you searching for wedding inspiration? You could start a Pinterest board or make a mood-board as a family, and compare your wedding ideas. After all, the best thoughts and ideas always come from a collaborative approach, so, choose your style and define the aesthetic you want to achieve. There are so many lovely wedding inspiration boards on Pinterest and websites online which will allow you to make your wedding the one which your guests are talking about for years to come.
4. Take advantage of COVID-19 offers and discounts!
Coronavirus has hit the hospitality industry hard, and there are some fantastic discounts to be had at the moment. It’s important to keep supporting everyone who goes into making your day extra special, from the venue and their staff to the caterers and photographer. Taking advantage of the offers that are currently available could save you lots of money long-term and enable you to deliver your perfect wedding under-budget, so you can splash out on extra details and make your day even more magical. Whatever you're considering, take your time to decide while keeping in mind that wedding professionals are getting booked up fast for 2021 and 2022. Personally, I’m offering new low deposits, so you can secure your perfectly tailored wedding photography package for just 20% of the final cost. I’m also offering personalised wedding album design to existing clients, and anyone who hasn’t found the time to design their album yet and doesn’t know where to start!
5. Finally, you could learn a new skill.
Invest in yourself during the lockdown, it's a great way to maintain your confidence and motivation. Maybe you could learn calligraphy and impress your guests on your big day, or teach yourself how to play your partner's favourite song on guitar to win them over even more than you already have! It's essential to keep yourself stimulated and create more opportunities for yourself in the future. I've enjoyed picking up my guitar again, I've found it so relaxing! Pete Mckee is doing drawing classes online ...oh and has a really cute dog
